David Carey is a public-purpose leader with experience in non-profit strategy, government relations, public affairs, partnerships, communications and civic engagement.

Before joining OPPI, David served as Co-Executive Director of The Bentway, where he worked with communities, partners and professional planners to bring bold ideas to life and reimagine how people connect with public space. He previously held senior government relations and philanthropy roles at the Toronto International Film Festival.

As CEO, David brings a collaborative and forward-looking approach to strengthening Ontario’s planning profession and inspiring new possibilities for vibrant, inclusive and resilient communities.
