Continuous Professional Learning
The Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) requires all practicing Full and Candidate members to participate in its Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) program. Introduced in 2014, the program reflects the profession’s commitment to maintaining ongoing competency and supports public confidence that planners remain current with evolving theory, methods, and professional practice. OPPI’s CPL program is tailored to the needs of planning professionals in Ontario while aligning with the National CPL Standard.
CPL is required for Full and Candidate members only. Members must complete 18 Learning Units annually, where one Learning Unit equals one hour of direct planning-related learning (with some exceptions).
- A minimum of 9 Learning Units must be Organized & Structured
- A maximum of 9 Learning Units may be Independent & Self-Directed
Up to 9 Organized & Structured Learning Units may be carried forward to the following year, provided the requirement for the current year has been met uirement; it strengthens your ability to lead change, inform policy and improve communities.
