Honorary Members

An Honorary Member is a person who has demonstrated extraordinary interest in and concern for the planning profession through their personal or professional work, and who does not hold membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners or OPPI. Honorary Members may or may not have worked in a planning-adjacent fields, their professional contributions resonate with the planning profession and, more importantly, serve the public interest.

By recognizing the extraordinary efforts of others who advance the cause of planning, we acknowledge the valuable contributions of people outside the profession. Further, by placing value on actions which reinforce the work of planners, we increase the awareness and promote the importance of planning to the future of communities in Ontario.
