Sharon Mittmann is the Manager, Urban Design at the City of Mississauga, the 6th largest city in Canada. She has an undergraduate degree in Architectural Science from Ryerson University and a Masters in City Planning from the University of Manitoba. She held several positions of increasing responsibility in areas that include architectural control, policy development, heritage planning and special needs housing policy prior to joining Mississauga in 1999. In her current role she works in the Planning and Building Department and oversees a team of Urban Designers, Architects, Landscape Architects and Landscape Architectural Technologists. Her team develops strategic policies and implementation plans as well as provides expert review of development applications to ensure great urban design as the City of Mississauga grows and develops at a rapid pace.

Sue Ann Laking is currently leading the Downtown Core Public Realm Strategy in the Urban Design Section at the City of Mississauga. She is a Landscape Architect with a great range of experience, beginning in the private sector and combined municipal experience within the Planning & Building Department, the Park Planning Section of Community Services and the Light Rail Transit Office of Transportation & Works at the City of Mississauga. Her current role in developing a Strategy for the Public Realm within the Downtown draws on her varied work experience, bringing together many stakeholders to deliver design standards, maintenance protocols, as well as Tactical Urbanism, to bring further awareness to the project.

Jacqueline Viscardi

Jacqueline Viscardi is assisting with the Downtown Core Public Realm Strategy as a Landscape Architectural Researcher in the Urban Design Section at the City of Mississauga. She has a diploma in Landscape Design from Fanshawe College and an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph. Jacqueline began her career in the private sector refining software, work efficiency and time management skills before joining the City of Mississauga’s Planning and Building Department. In her current role, Jacqueline supports, organizes and manage deadlines for the Downtown Public Realm Strategy, along with providing research assistance to her peers as needed.
