Sue Heffernan

Sue Heffernan has a Bachelor of Environmental Studies and a Masters in Regional Planning and Resource Development from the University of Waterloo. She spent 30 years in northern Ontario working for the provincial government. Her favourite part of her job was working with small towns and it was this experience that encouraged her to “go back to school.”

She is currently a PhD Candidate in the Human Studies Program at Laurentian University (in Sudbury), where she successfully completed her Comprehensive Exam at the end of 2012. Her thesis research focuses on the impact of the Cold War on Moosonee. Sue has also been a sessional professor in the Geography Department at Laurentian since 2006.  She teaches the Geography of Northern Canada and Geographic Perspectives on Urban Systems.
