Bill 13, Supporting People and Businesses

Over the last year, OPPI has worked with partner stakeholders and the provincial government on opportunities to improve how planning is implemented in Ontario. Most recently, OPPI worked with the government on efforts to streamline the development approvals process in the province of Ontario. On December 2, 2021, Schedule 19 of Bill 13, the Supporting People and Businesses Act, 2021 came into force upon Royal Assent. Schedule 19 of the Bill includes amendments to the Planning Act to provide municipal councils broader authority in allowing more planning decisions to be made by committees of council or staff.
