Update on Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster

On October 25, the government released Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022. Since then, a number of OPPI members have reached out sharing their comments and concerns. We encourage all members to continue to review the proposed changes and send their feedback to communications@ontarioplanners.ca.

The Bill proposes significant changes that impact the planning process in Ontario. It is presented as the next step in the Province’s plan to address the housing crisis by building 1.5 million homes over the next 10 years. Read a summary of the proposed changes.

The package is accompanied by several proposals on Ontario’s Regulatory Registry, including Review of A Place to Grow and Provincial Policy Statement. See the full list of regulatory postings.

The Standing Committee on Heritage, Infrastructure and Cultural Policy will be holding a public hearing on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 and Thursday, November 17, 2022 in Toronto to discuss Bill 23.
