OPPI honours the national day for truth and reconciliation

On September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, OPPI honours First Nations, Inuit and Métis survivors, their families, and communities and recognize the somber legacy of residential schools in Canadian history.

We acknowledge that we all have a duty to ensure that public commemoration of the history of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process and commit to continue working with our Indigenous Planning Advisory Committee (IPAC) to advance the discussion on truth and reconciliation in planning.

OPPI encourages all our members and the public to find opportunities to improve our understanding of Indigenous history so we can help build a better future. Whether you take the day for personal reflection, explore educational resources, or participate in events within your communities, your participation is the first step toward honest, meaningful reconciliation.
