Case Study of the Town of Collingwood’s Waterfront Master Plan

This session provides the opportunity for participants to get outside, experience Collingwood's waterfront, which has a unique and fascinating shipbuilding history, and learn about what shaped the development of the master plan. Using the waterfront plan as a case study, presenters will focus on the role of planners as leaders, facilitators and negotiators. They will explore planners' roles in generating local conversations, balancing competing needs, introducing new ideas, and developing consensus around a plan, as well as fostering an understanding of the implementation process. 
 
Learning Objectives:
• Gaining knowledge about the waterfront master planning process. 
• Gaining knowledge about strategies to lead conversations and local dialogue to generate broadly supported recommendations.
• Gaining knowledge about implementation tools and the role of planners as consultants in assisting clients when moving from the master plan to implementation stages.
