IB1: Public Liaison Committee: A Proactive Forum for Managing Conflicts Related to the Operation of Aggregate Pits

Now standard practice across the province, the public liaison committee for the management of local mineral aggregate resources is an integral part of the Town of Caledon’s official plan policy. This session will focus on the role of the committee in resolving conflicts and maintaining an open line of communication among pit operators/licensees, residents living within the vicinity of the pit and regulatory agencies.
 
Learning Objectives:
  • Gaining knowledge about the types of conflicts surrounding the management of mineral aggregate operations.
  • Gaining knowledge about the tools developed by Caledon for resolving conflicts during the operational phases of an aggregate pit.
  • Understanding how to set up and management a public liaison committee.
