Can Planners Adapt to Climate Change Policy and Energy Planning?

October 04, 2017

Student Ignite

This session explores the role of the municipal planner, within the regulatory framework of Ontario, in supporting the mandates of the Provincial Policy Statement, 2014 that call for providing opportunities for energy supply, promoting renewable energy systems and supporting energy conservation, air quality and climate change adaption.  It will show where the realm of land use planning and energy policy intersect, and give some examples showing implementable energy policy.
Learning Objectives:
• how energy policy and municipal planning overlap
• why planners should be involved
• what tools have been(or can be) used to achieve results
