WET Infrastructure: Building Blue and Green

October 04, 2017

Climate change has increased the frequency and severity of storm events throughout Ontario, contributing to overwhelmed stormwater systems and greater risks of urban flooding. Blue-green infrastructure offers an emerging set of landscape design technologies, based on ecological processes and multi-functionality for hydrological challenges. However, it does not fit easily into current municipal structures. This session will provide examples of new approaches to stormwater management.
Learning Objectives:
• Gaining knowledge about the fundamentals of blue-green infrastructure.
• Understanding the role of planning in achieving resilience.
• Gaining knowledge about the best and next practices in blue-green infrastructure and resilience.
