Masters of Rural Planning and Development Candidate, University of Guelph

James Newlands is a graduate of the Rural Planning and Development Program at the University of Guelph. He is currently employed as a planner with a private planning firm in Barrie, Ontario. His interests include farmland preservation, planning for agricultural and rural communities, local food systems and food security. His research focused on the promotion of a sustainable agricultural system by ensuring planning policies do not hinder small-scale farmers’ abilities to produce and distribute locally grown food.
