Valerie Shuttleworth, RPP, MCIP

Chief Planner, The Regional Municipality of York

Ms. Shuttleworth is Chief Planner and leads Planning and Economic Development at York Region.  She is responsible for growth management and land use planning as they relate to the Region, including the Regional Official Plan.  She champions York Region’s growth and development challenges with a sustainability approach that emphasizes economic, community and environmental values and public engagement.
 
Val has spent over 30 years in public sector planning. Before joining the Region in 2012 she worked at the local level for the Town of East Gwillimbury, the City of Markham, the City of North York and the City of Scarborough dealing with mainly urban, high density areas.
 
Val holds a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning degree from Ryerson and is an active member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute.
