101C: Transit Connectivity as a Tool for Moderating Uneven Growth in Halton Region

October 01, 2019

11:40AM - 11:55AM

Halton Region’s Determining Major Transit Requirements (DMTR) study identifies and protects future transit corridors that connect the Region’s major transit nodes and corridors with each other and the larger Greater Golden Horseshoe community. The DMTR is both a tool that provides a basis for long-term growth management and a strategy that builds transit ridership, creates mobility options and promotes intensification. This session will explain how the identification of future transit priority corridors of varying form and function sets the stage for higher order transit and multi-modal alternatives that will move residents, remedy uneven growth, and allow continued protection of Halton’s valuable agricultural and rural areas.
