September 21 and 22
2 days, 2 disciplines, 2 ways to participate – defining our professional roles and uniting to build more equitable, accessible and inspired communities.
#2GETHER2022
The rapid rise of Internet platforms has forever changed access into our residential neighbourhoods. It now takes no more than a few clicks for a homeowner to rent out part or all of their home to prospective visitors, introducing a shift from our typical residential neighbourhoods and falling between the cracks of our longstanding zoning provisions. Municipalities across Ontario are coming to terms with this paradigm shift, trying to find the best mix of policies and regulations to balance the needs of various stakeholders. In this session, participants will hear through case studies the challenges confronted and approaches taken in individual communities, what lessons municipalities can learn, and what other changes can be anticipated as the sharing economy impacts land use planning.
