This session will focus on the Region of Peel’s approach to increasing its affordable housing supply through the development of a master plan. The central them explored is how planners can continue to work towards social equity and, in the case of Peel Region, improve housing opportunities in an era of public funding restraint, runaway property markets and uneven growth. Participants will learn about the ways planning can encourage equitable growth through a coordinated housing master plan, how to apply statistical approaches to prioritize communities for deploying limited housing investment dollars and learn how to develop a housing/services master plan to address their communities unique needs.
