202A: Collaborative Planning for Climate Change – Durham Region Case Study

Durham Region is the 2018 winner of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Sustainable Communities Award (Climate Change). Hear about the Region’s work to collaboratively bring together and engage planners (upper/lower tier municipal, conservation authorities) and industry sector experts in the development of climate change policy and planning initiatives including: mitigation and adaptation strategies, implementation task forces, community energy planning, and regional and local Official Plan updates. In this session, participants will gain knowledge about the tools to incorporate climate change adaptaion into policies and action, understand how to build collaborative processes to enhance community resiliency and learn how to develop a multi-faceted program to address climate change across a variety of sectors.
