MW3: A Taste of the Danforth: How Main Street Thrives in the Era of Big Box, Uber Eats and Amazon

October 01, 2019

1:00PM - 5:00PM

In the heart of Greek Town, Danforth Avenue boasts an eclectic mix of small, owner-operated and independent businesses that have thrived alongside the quiet residential side streets that support it. Every summer, it is also home to one of Toronto’s most popular street festivals – the Taste of the Danforth. In this mobile workshop participants will explore the places and initiatives that have allowed Danforth Avenue to thrive as a Main Street amidst a changing economy increasingly dominated by big box stores, fast fashion, Uber Eats and Amazon. Also, learn about the unique history of the area and the initiatives of the local Business Improvement Area and community groups that have turned this street into a well-known destination for Torontonians and tourists alike.
