MW4: Getting Ahead of Change by Revitalizing Allenbury Gardens

October 01, 2019

1:00PM - 5:00PM

Social housing replacement was the catalyst for the Allenbury Gardens' revitalization, transforming this Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) townhouse complex into an urban, mixed-income community of tall, mid-rise and townhouse buildings with a new public park, mid-block connectors and accessible open spaces. This revitalization project is the result of a comprehensive plan responding to significant city-building objectives, within walking distance of Don Mills subway station and Fairview Mall. In this mobile workshop, participants will learn more about recognizing opportunities to leverage community assets to further Official Plan and city building objectives, learn about the benefits of master planning and urban design guidelines and see an example of transit-oriented development in practice.
