505: Planning for Complete Communities – Exploring the Redevelopment of Celestica’s Industrial Lands

October 02, 2019

11:00AM - 12:00PM

What would you do if you had the opportunity to not only plan for a new complete community, but to plan it from scratch along a higher-order transit corridor? In this session, explore the collaborative approach in redeveloping a 60-acre industrial site in Toronto’s Don Mills neighbourhood, into to a truly mixed-use community at the doorstep of one of the City’s largest transit investments, the Eglinton Crosstown, in decades. Hear the story of how the former suburban headquarters of Celestica will become home to more than 9,300 residents and 3,300 employees and contain new public and private streets, public parks, a new community centre, office, residential, retail, and recreational uses, heritage preservation, a range of housing choices including affordable housing units, a central urban square and protection of natural areas.
