MW9: Tour the King-Spadina District

October 02, 2019

2:15PM - 5:15PM

The King-Spadina district has evolved in the last two decades from a stagnant warehouse district to the epicentre of a development boom that is transforming part of Toronto’s downtown core. The catalyst for this development boom began in the mid-1990s through a planning policy initiative - the Kings Regeneration initiative - spearheaded by then-Mayor Barbara Hall and a small group of urban planners. Participants will learn about the history of the Kings Regeneration initiative and how redevelopment and investment are encouraged by a municipality in specific areas, learn about the development boom taking place by walking through the neighbourhood and hear personal experiences from Bousfields’ partners Peter Smith and David Huynh on working with this policy initiative.
