RENEW ONLINE BY DECEMBER 31 You will have the choice to pay for your 2024 membership fees with a credit card online, or download your invoice if your employer is paying by direct deposit. For group renewal, fill out the Group Membership Renewal Form and send it to membership@ontarioplanners.ca.
MEMBERSHIP FEES For the 2024 membership year, OPPI Council has made the decision not to increase membership fees in an effort to support OPPI members through the challenges of the past year. Learn more about membership fees. INSURANCE FEES & COVERAGE This year, you will see that your Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) premium has increased to $94.50. This is a direct reflection of two factors: policy usage and an extended policy period. Learn more about insurance. Policy Usage Thousands of dollars of claims costs have been paid to defend and protect insured members. Insurance claims have been substantiated by actuarial analysis, and insurance premiums have been negotiated to keep the increase to the lowest amount acceptable. Premiums continue to be competitive, and coverage remains comprehensive across all aspects of the policy. Extended Policy Period BMS Canada Risk Services will be transitioning their PLI policy period to run March 1 to March 1 in future years which means, for 2024, your policy period will be extended by two months from January 1, 2024 to March 1, 2025. To account for these additional two months of coverage in 2024, you will see your premium has been adjusted this year. This change was made by OPPI to provide members with a longer renewal period, helping to mitigate potential gaps in coverage for members who renew after January 1, 2024. Webinar to learn more To learn more about insurance coverage as well as risks and liabilities associated with your practice, BMS Canada is hosting a webinar called Are You Covered? How Professional Liability Insurance Protects You.

RENEW WITH OPPI & CIP Through the OPPI membership renewal process, you will be able to choose if you also want to renew your membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) directly through OPPI in a single payment. CONSULTANTS DIRECTORY As a result of OPPI's transition to a new database last year, a number of member services have been temporarily unavailable. A new and improved version of the Consultants Directory is currently under construction, but it has taken us a little longer than expexted to get it up and running. During the renewal process, although the option of the Consultants Directory may be visible, you will not be able to purchase a listing for your company and will not incur any charges if you do inadvertently select that option. We anticipate re-launching the Consultants Directory before the end of the year, so stay tuned for more information coming soon!
LOG YOUR CPL BY JANUARY 15 The deadline to log your Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) units is January 15, 2024. All OPPI members can log in, at any time, to the Members-Only Area to log their CPL units. Learn more about CPL.
If your personal circumstances prevented you from completing your CPL requirement this year, contact registrar@ontarioplanners.ca to discuss accommodation options.
CPL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How do I carry forward my CPL units? Unfortunately in our new database, carrying forward CPL units is no longer automatic - but this can be done in a few easy steps. If you have a surplus of structured learning units (i.e. more than nine) you may add them to the next calendar year. In your Members-Only Area, go to Record/View CPL Activities, and click Add Activities. Select the next calendar year to carry your learning units forward. IMPORTANT: Only structured learning units can be carried forward. Individual and self-directed learning units are limited to nine per calendar year and may not be carried over. How many CPL units can I enter in a calendar year? As of right now, the database will only allow you to enter 18 CPL units per calendar year. We're constantly working to improve your member experience, which is why we are in contact with our database provider to remove this limitation going forward. Stay tuned for more information. How do I edit or delete CPL units? You can edit or delete individual and self-directed learning units. If you see a pencil icon or a red X icon you may edit or delete that specific entry. At this time, structured learning units are only able to be edited or deleted by OPPI staff. Contact membership@ontarioplanners.ca for more information. Why don’t I have access to the CPL module? Some membership categories are not required to log CPL units, including Pre-Candidate, Full Non-Practicing, and Retired members. For that reason, the CPL module may not be visible to you.
