Duty to Consult… Obligation or Opportunity?

October 03, 2017

2:30pm-3:30pm, continuing 4:00pm-5:00pm

When is the Duty to Consult a success? Are there benefits regardless of government policy or court cases?  Beyond any legal nicety is it helpful to have a working relationship with a First Nation or a Métis community?  Share the experience of Saugeen First Nation and … and find out.

As the issues surrounding the Duty to Consult and Accommodate have become ever more prominent in our society, it has also become an ever more important planning skill. This session will focus on a specific case(s) where things went right, despite the potential for them to go wrong, and the useful outcomes that occurred.

Though all conference goers are welcome, this is intended as an intermediate session. Participants can find background materials at: http://www.inciteplanning.com/further-incites/.
