Facilitation in Action

October 04, 2017

2:30pm-3:30pm, continuing 4:00pm-5:00pm

At the core of a planner's job is bringing together people and ideas in the development of cohesive plans for land use, infrastructure and services. This necessitates interaction of people with different perspectives and viewpoints. Strong facilitation skills are often the key to making this interaction effective. The session is designed to allow planners to actively participate in two facilitation methods: the World Cafe format and the Consensus Workshop method. Participants will then focus on preparing an individual action plan to develop the competencies required to become a successful facilitator.

Learning Objectives:
• Gaining knowledge about a facilitation method.
• Understanding what is needed to be a good facilitator.
• Gaining knowledge about the tangible action(s) required for each participant to progress to becoming an effective facilitator.
