Conference 2017

OPPI Planning Issues Strategy Group

October 04, 2017

11:00am-12:00pm

OPPI is encouraging members and stakeholders to continue discussions on topics related to the public realm, and how they can help to create healthy communities. The public realm is crucial in achieving healthy communities across the Province. As professional planners, we are at the forefront of planning for the public realm. A well-planned public realm can increase physical and mental well-being, enhance public safety, encourage private investment and allow citizens to embrace and celebrate their places and spaces. Participate in this one hour conference session and learn why the public realm is a focus in community building and placemaking efforts across this Province.

Learning outcomes:

  • Articulate an understanding of the breadth and depth of OPPI's involvement in policy development
  • Articulate an understanding of OPPI's policy development process
  • Articulate an understanding of an emerging policy issue and their priority on OPPI's policy agenda
  • Articulate an understanding of the Call to Action - Healthy Communities and Planning for the Public Realm

Presented by: Members of the Planning Issues Strategy Group - Rob Voigt and Eldon Theodore along with Loretta Ryan, OPPI's Director of Public Affairs
