Quarry Tour

Hiking shoes are required.

This tour will take participants to existing and proposed pits along the Niagara Escarpment within an 18 km radius of the conference centre. Sites will include the Conn Aggregate in Gibraltar, Walker quarries and St Mary's west of Duntroon, and the controversial Side Road 27/27. Presenters will discuss the challenges of balancing scenic resources with the needs of aggregate industries. 
 
Learning Objective: Gaining knowledge about the challenges of balancing the tourism economy with the needs of the aggregate industry, amid neighbour and environmental group opposition.
