Senior Policy Planner, Town of Newmarket

Adrian Cammaert is a Senior Policy Planner with the Town of Newmarket.  His main focus at the Town is creating an accommodating planning policy framework focused on encouraging the redevelopment of the Town’s Yonge Street and Davis Drive Urban Centres.  Adrian has led numerous initiatives to create this framework including the approval of the Urban Centres Secondary Plan, and those dealing with parking reductions and urban parkland dedication.  He is now working on a progressive zoning by-law that will implement the Urban Centres Secondary Plan. Adrian is also fully certified in Economic Development and sees an area’s potential through both an urban planning/design and economic development lens. Adrian is the founder and past Chair of the Ontario Chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism, and is fully trained and accredited by CNU.  He is now a member of OPPI’s Community Design Working Group. Prior to joining the Town of Newmarket, Adrian had spent close to a decade in the private sector leading development approval projects on behalf of numerous developers and landowners throughout the GTHA.
