Rethinking the Highway 26 Gateway in Thornbury

OPPI’s Community Design Working Group is facilitating a compact charrette workshop process to help rethink the Highway 26 gateway corridor into the Town of Thornbury.  This session willprovide participants with a first-hand opportunity to learn about the community design process and how to integrate policy, land use regulations, and design concepts into a cohesive framework that will guide the direction of the built environment.  The session will also allow participants tocreate community design scenarios that will inform the redevelopment of the study area portion of the Highway 26 corridor in the village of Thornbury, Town of The Blue Mountains. These will be developed with consideration for the range of planning issues associated with community development, such as: active lifestyles; placemaking; all ages needs; access to nature; transportation; local culture; built form; economic development; redevelopment, infill and growth; and resilience & sustainability.  

Registration is limited – registrants will be given access to a digital charrette briefing packages to review in advance of the Conference.
