Many municipalities in Ontario are facing significant development pressures in historic areas as a result of intensification policies at both the provincial and municipal levels. Proposals to intensify historic cores and traditional residential neighbourhoods is often met with opposition from the public. Planners from Ajax, Clarington and Barrie will share tools, case studies and research to help enable “gentle” approaches to intensification that conserve the character of these areas.
