There are challenges in getting a pedestrian realm in today’s urban environments. This session walks people through what is takes to make up the portion of the pedestrian realm, including both above and below utilities and how they impact what people experience on the sidewalk. We will discuss the various options for planting trees in the boulevards and how this impacts boulevard stakeholders. In addition, we will give an overview of how the power of a good public realm can control the health and well-being of the environment and how a city is perceived.
