Indigenous Consultant at ALL Consulting

A.L.L. Professional Services (ALLPS) is a Six Nations owned and operated business located within the community of Six Nations of the Grand River. ALLPS is focused on supporting Indigenous communities and organizations in the pursuit of health, wellness and prosperity in ways that align with their community values and cultural belief systems.

Amy Lickers is a Gayogoho:no (Cayuga Nation) from Six Nations of the Grand River.  She launched A.L.L. Professional Services in January 2020, after close to 15 years of working directly with First Nations in the areas of planning, engagement, community development, economic development, public policy, and advocacy.  After pursuing her formal education in Architecture and a Masters in Environmental Studies concentrating in Indigenous planning, Amy has been able to apply her creative thinking to real-world situations by creating processes and plans that address challenges in meaningful ways.

While working at the Chiefs of Ontario as the Director of Economic and Sustainable Community Development, Amy was directly involved in the legislative changes that led to the First Nations Energy Delivery Credit. This involved an Ontario-wide engagement process to understand First Nation community challenges and systemic barriers to affordable energy, which included access to reliable energy, poor standard of housing needs and general unaffordability. The results of the engagement session were compiled into a position paper that combined the systemic challenges with a Rights-based approach to affordable energy. The result was a significant reduction in energy costs, specifically in the North, where families were no longer forced to choose between putting food on the table and turning the lights on.

As the Six Nations Community Planner and later the Director of Community Planning under the Six Nations Development Corporation, Amy created the 2010 Six Nations Comprehensive Community Plan. This 20-year plan laid out the social, economic, education, environmental, cultural and infrastructure needs of the community, and corresponding strategies for implementation. The development of this plan was formed through data analysis and a series of engagement opportunities which included interviews with community organizations and Six Nations departments, a community survey, several community events and focus groups. During this time, she was a key player in the development of the Six Nations Elected Council Consultation and Accommodation policy and procedure. As one of the first First Nations in Canada to develop this process, the team was a forerunner in consultation efforts developed around community priorities, legislative parameters and regulatory understandings.

Most recently, Amy supports clients, Indigenous and Industry, on policy development, engagement strategies, training and implementing mechanisms for Indigenous communities and organizations to exercise their nationhood, culture and values.
