Ian Graham is Director at R.E. Millward + Associates and has been with the company since June of 2013. As a professional planner, Ian is involved with the firm’s land use and urban planning projects, which include land use policy research and studies, Official Plan amendments and rezoning applications, commercial and industrial land use examinations, detailed understanding of zoning by-law legislation and the writing of zoning by-laws. Ian works for clients both in the public and private sectors. Ian brings his 36 years of professional planning experience to bear on all the projects he is involved with. Prior to joining the firm, Ian was Project Manager (Acting) with the City of Toronto’s City Planning Division working on the City’s new harmonized Zoning By-law, which was enacted by City Council in May 2013. Ian is also the Publisher and sole owner of NRU Publishing Inc., a company that publishes two weekly newsletters on planning and development news in the City of Toronto and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, respectively. Ian has overseen the publication operations for 26 years and focuses his efforts on growing the circulation and advertising functions of the company and ensuring that the weekly information to subscribers remains timely, well written, accurate and ‘must have’ news source to those involved with urban planning in the City of Toronto and the surrounding region. Born in Montreal, Ian is a graduate of the University of Toronto (Master of Science– in Planning) in 1986 and of McMaster University (BA- Geography) in 1984. Ian is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, a registered professional planner in the Province of Ontario, a member of the American Planning Association, a member of the Ontario Association of Land Economists, a member of BILD, a member of the association board of Bishop’s College School in Sherbrooke, Quebec, a member of the board of directors of Montrose Property Holdings Ltd. and Ecowaste Industries Ltd. in Richmond, British Columbia, and a member of the board of The York Club in Toronto.
