Maria Flores is the Manager of Sustainability at the City of Richmond Hill. She has worked in land use planning and environmental management for over 20 years at the conservation authority, provincial and municipal level. Maria has been involved in a wide range of planning policy, environmental management and community visioning projects including past Provincial Policy Statements, the Oak Ridges Moraine and Greenbelt Plans, Richmond Hill’s Strategic Plan and Official Plan, Richmond Hill’s Civic Precinct visioning process and concept plan, and more recently the City’s Environment Strategy, ISO 14001 EMS, Climate Change Framework, Community Energy and Emissions Plan, and Urban Forest Management Plan implementation. She currently leads a team responsible for broad-scale environmental and climate change initiatives, including sustainable development projects as well as education and outreach.
