Nelson Edwards, OALA, RPP, is a Senior Project Manager in Rights-of-Way, Heritage and Urban Design at the City of Ottawa. Nelson has over 35 years of experience in Ottawa in a diversity of specialties including: urban design, transportation planning, street design, strategic land use planning, community planning, environmental assessments, and green space systems. Nelson enjoys working in collaboration with others on projects on such projects as: updates to the technical cross-sections for local streets (2022), Designing Neighbourhood Collector Streets (2019); Albert and Slater Streets Post-LRT Re-Visioning project (2018); Downtown Moves: Transforming Ottawa’s Streets (2013); the Environmental Assessment for the Western Expansion of the Confederation Line LRT (2016), the Regional Road Corridor Design Guidelines (1999), as well as the Green Space Master Plan (2006), and National Capital Greenbelt Master Plan (1995). Nelson is a founding member of Ottawa’s Urban Forum – one of the longest running, volunteer-organized, lecture series on urban issues in Canada. He enjoys travel and seems to take too may photos of urban design ideas and streetscape details. Nelson grew up in Ottawa and lives there with his wife, Janice, and their Scottish terrier.
