Robert Freedman is an Urban Design, Planning and Development Advisor with Freedman Urban Solutions Limited (FUSL) with over 30 years of hands-on experience and a multidisciplinary background in architecture, planning and law. Prior to founding FUSL, Robert was the Director of Urban Design for the City of Toronto where he led several major initiatives including: the creation of design guidelines for townhouses, mid-rise buildings and tall buildings. Since studying law and architecture, Robert has had a strong interest in zoning and how it can be used as a tool to achieve desired built form outcomes and community character. Robert is a founding board member of the Council for Canadian Urbanism (CanU), and has studied Form Based Codes at the Form Based Code Institute. Robert serves as the Urban Design Lead on the City of London ReThink Zoning project.
