#2GETHER2022
Transportation Master Plans (TMPs) are intended to be the sibling document to an Official Plan, laying out a long-term growth plan for the transportation system that can support the growth that expected to come from land use developments. TMPs are traditionally prepared by a team of engineers and traffic modelers, and primarily feature a 25-year capital plan for road projects (typically widenings). What happens when planners take the wheel and the TMP is guided by a community visioning exercise and educated guesses about the future of the transportation field as automated, connected, electrified and shared vehicles evolve by the day? The City of Mississauga has just introduced its first TMP, resulting from such a process, both led and supervised by RPPs. Hear from representatives about what this project was like and what they learned, learn about how planners can revolutionize the transportation plannig field and the core concepts embedded in the City of Mississauga TMP.
