304: Healthy Built Environments

October 01, 2014

2:00pm - 3:00pm

Both the planning profession and the public health movement began with the cholera epidemic and the iconic removal of the handle on the Broad Street pump in Soho, London, England in 1854. Despite this it has only been in the last decade that the public health community has rediscovered the built environment as a means of improving population health.

The presentation will highlight public health contributions to the creation of healthy, sustainable and complete communities since the launch of the Places to Grow Act in 2006.
