Patrycja's research is based in Transportation equity. Equity is not as simple as treating everyone the same, but appropriately; public policy should aid those who are already at a disadvantage. It is one area of transportation planning that is not measurable and often forgotten but one that is important at creating an equitable city. What I want to speak about briefly in this session is how other cities have progressed their transit plans in comparison to Toronto's, and what these cities have done that Toronto and GTHA could learn from. By the end of this session participants will have learned about Toronto's transportation planning headaches and how we got to this crossroad, and what some examples of international cities have done to counteract similar transportation planning issues Toronto and the GTHA face.
