506B: Unlocking the History of a Place to Design its Future: Story of Lake Wilcox Park

October 06, 2016

10:50am - 11:05am

Through this session presenters hope to take planners through the many aspects of context-sensitive planning and design which have led to the development of the Lake Wilcox Park and waterfront. Lake Wilcox is a unique kettle lake geologic formation nestled in the naturally and culturally rich Oak Ridges Moraine. It is through this detailed study that we came to understand how significant public spaces reflect our heritage, values and outlook on the world. This project is presently under construction, and recently won multiple awards including the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects 2012 Regional Citation in Planning and Analysis.
