Community-based, placemaking, interactive, emotional, reflects its location, timeless, and engaging. These high hopes are descriptors of the public art envisioned by the community for the ION rapid transit system in the Region of Waterloo. This session will highlight the public engagement process for the ION project. Participants will learn firsthand how a creative engagement process can lead to meaningful community dialogue, community-inspired artists’ proposals, and public artworks that will contribute to enhanced public spaces reflecting the local community.
