801: Landowner Contact: Engaging the Community for Conservation

October 06, 2016

3:15pm - 4:15pm

Greenways contribute to the overall health and well-being of a community. To secure greenspace for long-term conservation land trusts, conservation authorities and municipalities in Ontario are working with their communities. This session will highlight the process of landowner contact through case studies and sample scenarios. The presenters will review different methodologies for securing greenspace—including land donation, bequests, conveyances, conservation easements, bargain sales—as well as communications and marketing approaches. Tools such as GIS mapping and MPAC data will be explored.
