MW10: Indigenous Place Making at Mohawk College

Indigenous communities have lived in Canada for more than ten millennia. Yet the presence of these founding peoples is all but invisible in the fabric of our towns and cities. This tour will take participants to the site of the HOOP Dance Gathering Place, a new outdoor learning space on the Mohawk College Campus that brings Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Canadians together in a public space of learning and inspiration. This project is an example of how we as designers of communities can contribute to the national project of Reconciliation through Indigenous Place Making.
