Alia Abbas is a graduate student at York University. She is currently working towards completing her Master of Arts degree in Geography concentrating on Economic Development. Her research has focused on economic development strategies in cities. Her graduate level thesis is on how universities, industries, and government are working together to boost a city’s economic development through the expansion and access to higher education institutions in the Province of Ontario. Alia holds a degree in BA Specialized Honours in Geography and Urban Studies accompanied with a Professional Certificate in Disaster and Emergency Management.
