Beth Gilhespy has had a passion for the Niagara Escarpment and the Bruce Trail all her life. An avid hiker and amateur geologist, she became a volunteer on the Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC) Environment Committee in 1993, eventually joining the Board of Directors in 2002. In July 2004 Beth moved into the senior staff position as Executive Director of the BTC. She now supervises a staff of 15 and has overseen the permanent protection of over 5,000 acres of Niagara Escarpment land, worth almost $18 million. Prior to her work as the BTC's Executive Director, Beth worked for 15 years in the field of toxic chemical treatment. Beth holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Guelph.
