Chris Hilbrecht graduated from the University of Toronto in 2015 where his research interests ranged from ecological and climate-responsive urban design to culture and economic development. Winter City planning interests him both as a basic consideration for livable Canadian cities and as a city branding strategy in which specific land use, built form and urban design ideas are integrated with temporary interventions and public programming to turn dark, icy winter from a liability into a marketable place-based asset for northern cities. Chris recently started work as a Planning Associate at R.E. Millward + Associates in Toronto.
