For over two decades, Clifford Maynes has led the work of Green Communities Canada in developing sustainability through community-based solutions and transformational policy change. Priorities have included home energy efficiency, walking and walkable communities (Canada Walks), private well stewardship (Well Aware), and the use of green infrastructure to reduce urban runoff and runoff pollution (RAIN Community Solutions). Clifford is on the steering committee for the Green Infrastructure Ontario Coalition, and chairs GIO’s stormwater committee. He represents GIO on the stakeholder review group for Ontario’s Low Impact Development Guidance Document. Other activities include a collective impact approach to urban flooding, coordinated joint input to provincial policy initiatives, and the development of a tool to assess progress by jurisdictions across Canada in transforming the way rain is managed on the landscape. Clifford lives with his family in Peterborough, Ontario, where he served for 18 years on local water and electricity utility boards.
