Ian

Partner, Dillon Consulting Limited

Ian is a Partner at Dillon and leads the landscape architecture and environmental design practice. For more than 36 years, Ian has practiced throughout Canada and internationally, directing multi-disciplinary teams and providing innovative and award winning designs to both public and private sector clients. Many of the projects required resolving complex site design and technical issues. As design lead and project director, Ian’s parks projects include: Oak Ridges Community Centre and Park Master Plan and implementation in Richmond Hill; Cherry Beach Sports Field, a large-scale community sports park facility in Toronto’s Portlands district; Angus Glen Community Centre Park , in Markham, and Wismer Common, a community park in the City of Markham. Other projects for which Ian assumed project direction include Ashbridges Bay Pump House Park, a $5 million urban community park site of sports and amenity areas integrated with Toronto’s main Treatment Facility complex; McMaster’s David Braley Health Centre urban park development, The Urban parkland for the Hotel X at Exhibition place, and  Humber Bay Shores Waterfront Park in Toronto.

Past award-winning projects include Children’s Environmental Park in Seoul, Korea (1996 Design Competition, Winner); and Confederation Landing Park in Charlottetown, PEI (2000 Regional Honour/National Citation - Canadian Society of Landscape Architects). All of these projects integrated a range of active recreation facilities with the development of sustainable site design measures and the preservation/enhancement of environmental features.

Ian is a full member of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects, the American Society of Landscape Architects and is a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects. He is co-chair of the OALA Ethics Review Committee, and has taught ecology and landscape architecture at the local landscape architecture schools.
