Sean Hertel has been a planner in the Toronto region for over 19 years and leads a planning practice that is uniquely positioned at the intersection of different disciplines, environments, and processes. As a connector of ideas and people to shape cities, Sean and his collaborators lead a diverse range of projects that reflect the complexity of the urban landscape. He has a particular expertise in transit oriented development, suburbs and social equity. In addition to running his Toronto-based practice, Sean is a Research Fellow at the City Institute at York University, and is a frequent lecturer at university programs in planning and urban design.  
 
On-going and recent projects led by Sean include: transit equity research for the Province of Ontario’s transit agency, Metrolinx; an international urban structure best practices review and analysis for the City of Toronto, and; development of an international ideas competition for York Region to increase the supply of market rental housing.
