MPl. (Urban Development), Ryerson University

Yvonne became interested in Urban Planning when a year-long cycling tour took her on many of the cycle tracks, paths, city streets and country roads of Europe, South East Asia, Tasmania and New Zealand.  She has focused her research on cycling, street re-design, and community engagement, and hopes to use her background in education and the humanities to bring people together around re-imagining their streets.  She is currently working for the Toronto Centre for Active Transportation as their Communications Coordinator, and has received a grant from the RBC Partnership for Change: Immigrant, Diversity and Inclusion Project to study CultureLink’s Bike Host, a program which provides newcomers with bicycles for the summer.
